Immediate hiring! Mechanic Lead FULL‑TIME Opportunity in San Jose
Pay Range: $50.00 - $52.00 an hour (This rate applies to a 8‑hour shift)
We’re hiring a Mechanic Lead under the supervision of the Regional Fleet Manager. The Lead Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all company vehicles.
Responsibilities- Complete preventative maintenance service on all AMR vehicles.
- Knowledge of all phases of brake and electrical diagnosis and repair.
- Performs service, repairs and adjustments to all components of AMR vehicles, including engines, transmissions, differential units, generators and hydraulic and electrical systems, A/C and cooling system.
- Perform front end repairs.
- Provide accurate diagnosis of drivetrain.
- Perform maintenance and repair of gurneys.
- Collect mileage & input status in fleet software program.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety equipment, tool use and care, and record‑keeping.
- Must be willing to work a variety of shifts if necessary.
- Follow information systems security policies and procedures.
- Attend information systems security training when offered.
- Report information systems security problems.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- At least five years of fleet maintenance and repair experience.
- Previous shop management experience and working with outside vendors.
- Strong electrical diagnosis and repair background.
- Basic knowledge of diagnosis and repair of diesel and gas engines.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to provide good customer service.
- California driver’s license and driving record in compliance with AMR policy regarding insurability.
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) & EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certification preferred.
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, equipment, and standard practices used to maintain a fleet of vehicles in a safe manner.
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions followed in heavy equipment repair shops.
- Ability to safely operate motor vehicles, an assortment of hand and power tools, and other work‑related equipment.
- Must have and maintain the required tools, including a roll‑away tool box.
- Occasionally lift or move items such as tools or vehicle parts weighing up to 75 pounds, either manually or with a dolly or forklift. Items may be carried up to 200 yards.
- Frequently lift and/or move items as described above.
- Constantly work in a shop environment in and around motor vehicles and equipment.
- Occasionally complex reading and writing, memorization, high math skills.
- Frequently simple reading and writing, problem solving, judgment, reasoning, decision making.
- Constantly analyzing, perception/computation, complex math skills; apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Occasionally repetitive tasks, high pressure.
- Frequently intense tasks.
- Occasionally facsimile, telephone.
- Frequently diagnostic tools, laptop.
- Constantly mechanic tools, shop equipment, lifts.
