Life Moves is the largest and most effective provider of housing and services for neighbors experiencing homelessness in Silicon Valley since 1987. Our mission is to end homelessness by providing interim housing, supportive services, and building collaborative partnerships. With 40 programs, Life Moves gives neighbors experiencing homelessness a temporary place to call home while providing intensive, customized case management through site-based programs and community outreach.

Position

Purpose

The Branham Residential Service Coordinator role at Life Moves | Branham Lane provides interim supportive housing in San Jose to 204 units, including 24 flex family units. During residents’ stay, clients participate in holistic services tailored to each household’s needs and goals. The team supports clients with employment, housing, benefits, physical and behavioral health through case management, workshops, and connection to specialized resources.

The coordinator helps keep the site safe, welcoming, and running smoothly, reporting to the Operations & Services Manager or Program Director. This role is often the first to respond to client needs, handling everyday requests and urgent situations, and also supports volunteers, donors, and community visitors to ensure they feel respected and informed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide calm, supportive crisis response and connect clients to appropriate resources when needed
  • Support daily operations by responding to needs and questions from clients, volunteers, donors, and visitors with radical hospitality, professionalism, and compassion
  • Monitor site safety through regular rounds and by observing security cameras; maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment; report maintenance or pest control needs promptly and assist with basic prevention
  • Manage facility meals, supplies, and donations, ensuring proper inventory and organized storage
  • Conduct welcomes, move-ins, completions, and move-outs, ensuring accurate documentation and smooth transitions for clients
  • Prepare spaces as needed, including cleaning rooms and organizing belongings
  • Support team collaboration by creating reports and shift logs, participating in meetings, and engaging in ongoing training
  • Maintain high ethical standards regarding confidentiality, boundaries, and professionalism
  • Fully participate in required trainings by assigned deadlines and apply learning to daily work
  • Complete training in the first 90 days (e.g., CPR, MHFA, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, HMIS, and related certifications) and through Relias (trauma-informed care, homelessness, mental health, crisis response, boundaries, DEIB, privacy, abuse prevention, and related topics)
  • Attend continuing education opportunities to grow expertise and maintain best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program, department, and organization needs
Qualifications
  • Educational Requirements:

    High school diploma or GED required, or 2+ years of directly related homelessness or human services experience
  • Care, Respect, Empathy:
    Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds with care, respect, and empathy; commitment to DEIB and radical hospitality
  • Emotional Regulation:
    Ability to manage stress and de-escalate situations to support safety and positive outcomes
  • Growth Mindset:
    Open to feedback and continuous learning in trauma-informed care, crisis support, and harm reduction
  • Team & Independence:
    Able to work independently and as part of a team; clear communication and initiative
  • Documentation:
    Maintain clear, unbiased, professional documentation
