Backend Staff Software Engineer – Billing Platform (Hybrid)
Join GEICO as a Backend Staff Software Engineer in our Billing Platform team, a technology-driven organization transforming insurance with innovative solutions.
Base Pay Range$110,000 – $230,000 per year.
What You Will DoLead the design and development of complex software systems and re-architect the billing platform for scalability and efficiency.
Responsibilities- Oversee high-level and low-level designs of one or more sub-systems.
- Be responsible and accountable for quality, reliability, usability, and performance.
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight for multiple billing teams.
- Lead the design and development of scalable, maintainable systems.
- Identify and prioritize technical challenges and develop solutions.
- Work closely with product, design, and other departments.
- Facilitate effective communication across teams.
- Mentor engineers and foster continuous learning.
- Provide technical guidance to overcome challenges.
We seek candidates meeting the minimum requirements below; preferred qualifications are a bonus.
Minimum Requirements- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- Architecting and designing large-scale systems.
- Proficient coding in Java, Go, or similar.
- Experience with SQL/No
SQL, Kafka, Spark, Airflow, or equivalents. - Proficiency in cloud tools, Dev Ops, observability, telemetry, and test automation.
- Collaboration across engineering teams and other functions.
- Experience in financial technology, billing, payments, subscription management, or financial reporting.
- Track record in designing and implementing workflow engines.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS or equivalent experience.
