WhyThis Role Matters
As Senior Electrical Engineer – Optical Diagnostics, you will oversee the design and integration of opto‑electrical systems for multiple diagnostics at Pacific Fusion’s demonstration system.
What You’ll Do- Design and develop electronic circuits for laser control and characterization.
- Integrate and characterize optoelectronic components, including photodetectors, modulators, laser systems and high‑speed camera diodes.
- Develop and implement RF signal detection and processing techniques for optical systems.
- Work with single‑mode and multi‑mode fiber optics for system integration and signal transmission.
- Perform system‑level testing, data analysis and debugging of optical and RF systems.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including optics, mechanical and software engineers.
- Document design specifications, test procedures and technical reports.
- Stay current with advancements in photonics, RF systems and relevant technologies.
- Expertise in one or more of the following: RF signal detection and processing; laser systems and drivers; optoelectronic modulation (e.g., EOMs, AOMs); fiber‑optic integration and alignment.
- Proficient with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and optical power meters.
- Strong understanding of analog and mixed‑signal circuit design.
- Experience with high‑speed digital electronics and data acquisition systems.
- Familiarity with optical communication systems and photonic integrated circuits.
- Programming skills in Python, MATLAB or LabVIEW for test automation and data analysis.
- Knowledge of radiation effects on electrical systems.
- Experience working closely with PhD scientists and R&D technology organizations.
$114,000—$175,000 USD (base salary; total compensation includes equity and benefits).
