Job DescriptionWe are looking for a driven mechanical engineer to perform process design, development, and qualification/testing tasks on complex mechanical hardware including precision mechanisms and electro‑mechanical hardware, in a program team environment. Candidate is expected to own larger aspects of the system and be flexible with tasking as the program evolves. Program support and technical leadership over requirements definition, concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing may be required.
Candidate must have experience in 3D modeling, critical HW design and development and the ability to work independently and within a multi‑disciplined team environment. Candidate must be willing to work within a lab environment and be hands‑on with hardware.
- Work with limited supervision in a variety of high consequence program activities
- Potential to present to internal and external stakeholders, including customer representatives
- Generation of Technical Data Package components (Part and Assembly drawings, etc.)
- Prototype, integrate, and test component parts and assemblies
- Develop test plans and procedures for mechanical subsystems
- Perform test and evaluation of component parts and systems
- Participate in peer reviews, PDRs, CDRs, and other required design reviews
- Participate in product change review meetings and discussions and implement changes
- Participate in interdisciplinary design teams and reviews
- Adhere to company processes for product development, configuration management, purchasing, etc.
- Direct designers/technicians as part of a design team
- Support field testing/demonstration efforts as an ME field representative
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
- Ability to obtain U.S. security clearance
- 2+ years experience developing complex mechanical hardware including precision mechanisms and electro‑mechanical hardware
- Understanding and utilization of ASME Y14.5 standards
- Skilled at use of design tools such as Pro Engineer, AutoCAD, Solid Works
- Familiarity with FEA (Ansys & NATRAN is a plus)
- Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports
- Use MS Office products
- Comfortable with PLM software
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $100,000 - $185,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
