Senior Packaging Engineer at Torani (R. Torre & Co.)

We are seeking a seasoned packaging professional to join our fast‑growing team! You believe that package function serves as the foundation for product ideation, and you thrive as a trusted partner internally and externally. You are skilled in structural packaging development, performance optimization, and quality improvement. We need you to share your knowledge with others while facilitating a collaborative process across Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and the production floor.

You’re experienced in driving packaging projects that increase productivity, machine uptime and lower costs, while earning consumer admiration. You adapt to changing demands, prioritize multiple projects, and commit to continuous improvement throughout our Supply Chain, supporting our double‑digit growth.

Success Factors (First 12-24 Months)
  • Package Structural Design & Analysis Extraordinaire: You are the go‑to subject matter expert for all things packaging. Your expertise spans packaging formats, structures, materials, cost, performance, equipment compatibility, and supplier selection. You support a wide range of product lines, including syrup and sauce, across hot and cold fill processes. You lead the packaging development process from structural design and prototyping to compatibility and performance testing while collaborating cross‑functionally with Engineering, Brand, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, and other teams.

Using engineered drawings and specifications, you define packaging requirements related to physical characteristics, handling, environmental, and safety needs. You also partner closely with Operations and Quality to develop and execute robust test plans that ensure packaging exceeds customer specifications.
  • Optimization Trailblazer: You identify and solve key opportunities through packaging modifications, working closely with manufacturing and maintenance teams to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability while meeting customer, regulatory, and internal requirements. You actively drive cost‑saving initiatives that improve product margins across packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage. Your standardized packaging specifications and qualification processes play a critical role in enabling successful product launches.
  • Supplier Partnerships: You developed a Packaging Supplier Evaluation process that sets clear standards and guidelines to identify opportunities for improving material quality and packaging performance. Through a strong understanding of supplier operations and deep technical expertise, you are a trusted partner to suppliers. You collaborate with the team on Supplier Incident Reports (SIRs) and work directly with suppliers to determine root causes and implement corrective actions for packaging‑related quality issues.
  • Quality Improvement: You lead sustained improvements in packaging performance by setting and achieving targets with a strong focus on continuous improvement. You guide teams through root cause and system failure analysis to define effective corrective actions, while troubleshooting new and existing packaging issues related to design, materials, and processes. You recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging solutions, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to align on outcomes.
  • Safety & Sustainability: You always see packaging through a lens of safety and sustainability. You have built testing and validation programs to ensure compliance, consistency, and effectiveness across existing products, while maintaining a strong focus on advancing Torani’s sustainability through improved packaging materials.
  • You Make Work More Fun: Whether it’s your attitude, humor, or energy – you bring a little extra brightness to every day.
