Food Service Worker

Shifts:

6:00 am–2:30 pm and 11:00 am–7:30 pm

$21.78 per hour

Telecare exists to help people with mental impairments realize their full potential and deliver excellent services for persons with serious mental illness.

The Food Service Worker assists in the preparation, assembly, and service of food and ensures that dietary and dining areas are clean and meet sanitary regulations.

• One year of experience in food service is preferred.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• Good communication skills and desire to work with mentally impaired adults.
• Must be finger‑printed, sign a perjury statement, and receive DOJ clearance.

• Consistently perform food service tasks: load dish‑washing machine, hand‑wash non‑machine equipment, assemble prepared food, store clean dishes, assist in salad and dessert prep, serve meals in cafeteria, and deliver food to resident service areas.
• Obtain supplies from food storage, refrigerator, and freezer; stock supplies and equipment in storage areas.
• Perform assigned cleaning tasks.
• Demonstrate knowledge and safe use of equipment; practice universal precautions.
• Participate as a team member, report observations and concerns.
• Maintain quality and quantity of work in line with policies and procedures.
• Implement improvements for food service processes.
• Promote professional behavior and support team morale.
• Attend in‑service education classes and dress appropriately.

Standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and kneeling are required frequently or constantly throughout the shift. The role requires repeated lifting of up to 50 lb and manipulations with both hands (grasping, pushing, pulling). Repetitive use of hands is essential.

• Exposure to extremes of temperature, humidity or wetness.
• Exposure to dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals.
• Working at heights.
• Operation of foot controls or repetitive foot movement.

• Working with bio‑hazards such as blood‑borne pathogens, sewage, hospital waste, etc.
