Sales Manager – Service/Repair/Modernization (Oakland, CA)
OverviewResponsible for driving the revenue, profit margin, and overall sales growth by leading the branch’s sales force across all three lines of business. Builds a culture based on being the easiest to do business with, ensuring sales representatives exceed sales goals and objectives.
Responsibilities- Builds strong customer relationships with branch key customers, maintaining a strong working knowledge of the overall market area movement, including market penetration, volume for different lines of business, competitors’ positions and strategies.
- Manages and develops branch’s sales representatives; setting sales goals, reviewing performance, administering quarterly performance management, and ensuring timely resolution of questions and issues.
- Leads business growth and fosters relationships with key customers, consultants, and architects; creates synergies across all lines of business, including leadership of the NIM process to achieve 100% on‑time conversion; collaborates with Operations for strategic leads and labor estimating.
- Supports a culture of customer satisfaction that promotes retention; works with other departments to ensure proactive customer assistance.
- Implements and oversees strategic sales initiatives aligned with corporate and regional strategies.
- Develops a consistent and superior brand identity used by all sales employees in presentations, proposals, and bid preparations; identifies sales‑skill opportunities and initiates training/coaching.
- Ensures all bids are approved based on established approval levels; manages multi‑million‑dollar approval forms and required documentation.
- Ensures branch sales efforts are run consistently and cohesively; monitors sales activity using CRM and approves sales incentives.
- Reviews and sets sales goals in line with budgetary and corporate guidelines; approves individual sales goals, conducts quarterly performance reviews, initiates performance management, and prepares booking forecasts.
- Strategically reviews P&L and other financial reports to monitor sales performance; works with Branch Manager and leaders to develop sales budgets.
- Reviews, participates in, and creates bidding strategies to ensure profitability; conducts or participates in ITS/factory tours as necessary to demonstrate technical competence and secure customer interest.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; prior personnel management experience preferred.
- 7+ years of directly related sales experience in the elevator industry; experience selling service/repair, construction, & modernization strongly preferred.
- Proven success in B2B field sales with experience selling services in a highly competitive market.
- Ability to review and guide direct reports through contract proposals and business correspondence.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to improve profitability.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Salary range: $122,000‑$158,000 with additional bi‑annual incentive compensation 0%‑87.5%. The role offers a car allowance and fuel card. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors, including type and years of experience, education, office location, and other factors.
