SLH Materials Handler

SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Material Handler requisitions, orders, issues, delivers, receives, and warehouses supplies/equipment, maintains inventory records, and provides input regarding minimum stock levels and rates of usage. Sorts and distributes mail and moves heavy objects, including furniture and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Issues and distributes supplies, instruments, and equipment to patient-care units throughout the hospital.
• Performs routine supply or warehousing duties, including receiving and delivering supplies and equipment.
• Ensures incoming supplies are stocked on a first-in, first-out basis and performs periodic cycle counts.
• Maintains the orderliness and cleanliness of the work area or storeroom.
• Retrieves messages from warehouse voicemail and responds in a timely manner to all requests.
• Inputs, processes, and receives stock and stockless requirements each day.
• Receives, sorts, and processes mail from the U.S. Post Office and pulls in-house mail to physicians.
• Operates a large duplicating machine in a central copy center to produce forms, manuals, and other documents.
• Performs any and all other duties as assigned by department leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree or some college coursework preferred.
• Three years of experience in a health care environment or related health care setting is desired.
• Current California driver's license.

PAY RANGE: $33.73/HR
