Nexus SLO is a premier dance studio in San Luis Obispo, dedicated to connecting the community through the art of dance. We offer a diverse range of classes ranging from American Smooth/Rhythm ballroom styles to social dances such as Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, West Coast Swing, Country Swing and Two-Step, Argentine Tango, Hustle, Blues, and more! the Nexus Ambassador Program

The Nexus Ambassador Program is designed to create a thriving community within our studio by empowering passionate individuals to contribute to the growth and success of Nexus.

Ambassadors play a vital role in fostering a welcoming, engaging, and professional environment Through this volunteer program, ambassadors will actively participate in the studio’s mission of promoting dance as an art form and community-building activity while receiving the exclusive benefits of free classes, discounted private lessons, and studio merchandise. Additionally, the program offers leadership opportunities, valuable resume-building experiences, and the chance to develop interpersonal and organizational skills.

Ambassadors serve as the heartbeat of Nexus by ensuring smooth check-in processes, assisting instructors during classes, promoting events, and acting as liaisons between the studio and its members. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just beginning your journey, the Nexus Ambassador Program invites you to grow alongside our community while contributing to something bigger. Join us in building a space where dance brings people together and creates lasting memories.

Minimum Weekly Commitment: 1 – 2 hrs.

Ambassadors will be required to attend a 30 minute training course prior to starting in which they will be trained in check-in procedures, and general studio logistics.

Ambassadors will be scheduled to work a required weekly shift in which they will be responsible for checking attendees in and attending the dance/dance-fitness class through its entirety.

Responsibilities

Manage the door and check-in process for specific classes and events, ensuring accurate attendance tracking.

Greet students and event guests, providing a welcoming and professional first impression.

Attend classes to develop a strong foundation in the style of dance being taught.

Provide in-class support to students who need additional assistance.

Promote upcoming classes and events to attendees, encouraging participation and engagement.

Help take photos and videos of classes to help support promotional efforts

Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the studio space.

Act as a liaison between students and instructors to facilitate smooth communication.

Support weekend events through check-in, set up, and tear down.

Qualifications

Passion for dance and a willingness to learn various styles.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Dependable and punctual with excellent organizational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with instructors and students.

Previous experience in customer service or event coordination is a plus.
