• Teach undergraduate and master’s level courses in Data Science within Computer Science and Software Engineering.
• Support and expand curricular development in computer science and/or software engineering.
• Engage in high-quality scholarly work evidenced by external peer review.
• Perform service activities at all levels of the University as a colleague.

• An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent (ABD considered with proof of degree awarded prior to or by start of appointment).
• Excellence in teaching, effective communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with students, staff and faculty.
• Ability to develop an externally funded, applied research program involving undergraduate and graduate students and partnerships with key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated hands-on, student-centered learning and teaching; ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary settings.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

• Evidence of excellence in university-level teaching and research (time-since-degree dependent).
• Experience with laboratory-based instruction and/or industry experience.
• Experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive environment.
• Ability to teach in areas of need (data science, AI, machine learning, databases, data visualization, data ethics, data engineering, data mining, big data).

• Mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act; comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
• Background check required after conditional offer; inability to satisfactorily complete may result in withdrawal of offer.
• Current employees may require a background check for eligible positions; sensitive positions have heightened scrutiny.

• Possibility of transition to semester-based year-round operations (YRO) with teaching in two consecutive semesters; third semester may be available for additional compensation per needs and policy.
