Job Summary
The Kinesiology and Public Health Department in the Bailey College of Science and Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking to fill one full-time, academic year, tenure track position in Physical Activity in Special Populations in the Kinesiology program, with appointment beginning August 17, 2026.
In an initiative to expand its teaching and research program within the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree program, the department invites applications from a broad spectrum of qualified individuals with a commitment to undergraduate teaching and research in physical activity in special populations. The selected individual will primarily teach upper‑division core courses in the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree program, including Physical Activity and Aging, Adapted Physical Activity, Physical Activity and Public Health, and at least one course in Research Methods, Athletic Training, or Introduction to Kinesiology.
Preferred areas of research include but are not limited to physical activity and health promotion for people with disabilities, exercise prescription and/or interventions for clinical populations (e.g., those living with chronic conditions, mental health disorders, in rehabilitation settings), adaptive physical activity for youth with developmental disabilities, physical activity interventions for aging populations, inclusive fitness and community‑based exercise programs, accessibility and participation in sport and recreation, cardiometabolic and/or mental health in individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities, or other closely related special populations research.
Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is anticipated; higher ranks will be considered. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience of the individual selected.
- If appointed at the Assistant Professor rank, the anticipated hiring range is $97,788 - $107,628.
- If appointed at the Associate Professor rank, the anticipated hiring range is $112,500 - $118,524.
