GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION - The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California (Cal Poly) is excited to invite applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning Fall 2026.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in teaching and curriculum development in Geotechnical Engineering and Civil Engineering, as a whole. As scholars, faculty should be engaged in scholarly work that is of very high quality as evidenced by external peer review. As colleagues, faculty are encouraged to perform service activities at all levels of the University.
Responsibilities for this faculty position include, but are not limited to:
- teaching undergraduate lecture courses and laboratories in civil engineering and geotechnical engineering;
- teaching graduate courses and laboratories in geotechnical engineering and in their area of expertise;
- supervising undergraduate and graduate-level research;
- developing and maintaining externally-funded research;
- engaging in activities related to service in the form of student advising, curriculum development, and shared governance.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience of the individual selected. Qualified candidates with industry experience are encouraged to apply. Anticipated hiring range:$106,000 – $117,000 per year.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Civil & Environmental Engineering Department has two separate B.S. degree programs with approximately 650 undergraduate students in the Civil Engineering Program and 250 in the Environmental Engineering Program. Both programs are ABET accredited. The Department's undergraduate programs are consistently rated as among the best in the U.S. for non-Ph.D. granting institutions, and the Department proudly supports active and highly regarded student chapters of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and Air and Waste Management Association, among others.
The Department also offers an M.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with approximately 50 active graduate students.
