The Management, Human Resources and Information Systems Area of the Orfalea College of Business at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo seeks a full‑time, tenure‑line, academic year Assistant Professor in the primary area of Management/Organizational Behavior. Faculty are expected to teach courses in organizational behavior and may also teach specialized courses in change management, performance management, training & development, or people analytics.
The appointment begins August 17 2026, with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated hiring range is $135,100‑$149,300.
The Management, Human Resources, and Information Systems (MHRIS) Area within the Orfalea College of Business is dedicated to preparing career‑ready leaders who combine business acumen with strong interpersonal skills, enabling students to contribute immediately and navigate complex organizational challenges with fairness, empathy, and data‑driven insight. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Doctorate or equivalent degree in Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management, or a closely related field from an AACSB or equivalent institution. The Ph.D. must be awarded by the time of appointment in Fall 2026.
- Demonstrated record of high‑quality research published in peer‑reviewed journals or clear evidence of the potential to establish such a record.
- Evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in and ability to teach organizational behavior, a core course in the business curriculum, and an interest in additional specialized courses such as change management, performance management, training & development, or people analytics. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching with experiential pedagogies, and experience with inclusive and equitable teaching to a wide variety of students.
