Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director for Student Rights & Responsibilities, the University Judicial Coordinator will receive and investigate reports of alleged misconduct. The person holding this position will perform judicial investigations on behalf of Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities and provide analysis and outcomes while maintaining compliance with the California State University system-wide executive order 1098, which governs the judicial process.

Summary

The Office of the Dean of Students (DOS) is committed to supporting the overall success of students by fostering the development of integrity and problem‑solving skills, teaching self‑advocacy and personal responsibility and helping students understand the fundamental principles of good citizenship and responsible leadership. The Office of the Dean of Students is a resource for resolving student issues, including student misconduct.

Within DOS, the Office for Student Rights & Responsibilities (OSRR) is responsible for acting on behalf of the University President regarding all aspects of student discipline. OSRR receives reports of alleged misconduct relative to Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, investigates all allegations pursuant to CSU Executive order 1098 in order to determine whether University disciplinary action is to be initiated, and determines appropriate university judicial case dispositions and sanctions.

Qualifications
  • Familiarity with student conduct management systems.
  • Working knowledge of techniques for dealing with and solving problems presented by a variety of individuals from various socio‑economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to utilize advanced skills, principles, and practices of community engagement.
  • Ability to advise students individually and in groups on routine and sensitive matters where required.
  • Ability to adapt to complex, high‑pressure situations and manage fluctuating caseloads effectively, including during peak case management seasons.
Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four‑year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution. Three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.
  • A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling
Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $66,528 - $77,951 Per Year

Classification Range: $66,480 - $94,716 Per Year

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
