Earth Systems is seeking a leadership‑driven and self‑motivated Senior Engineering Geologist for the Inland Empire. The Senior Engineering Geologist will be responsible for conducting and managing geological assessments and providing geological expertise on projects. This role involves analyzing geological data, preparing and reviewing reports, and advising on the geotechnical and/or environmental site conditions for projects as well as actively engaging in client relations to maintain existing clients and win new projects.
Education and Experience- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or a related field required.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- CA Licensed Professional Geologist (PG) required.
- CA Licensed Engineering Geologist (CEG) required.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering geology or a related field.
- Phase I and Phase II environmental evaluations experience is a plus.
- Plan and conduct detailed geological and geotechnical investigations to assess site conditions.
- Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater data to develop site conceptual models as they relate to the geotechnical or environmental characteristics of the site.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on mitigation measures for geological hazards, such as landslides and seismic activity.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and safety standards.
- Participate in project planning and management, including budgeting and scheduling.
- Stay updated on advancements in geological engineering practices and technologies.
- Prepare proposals, schedules, and reports to achieve project goals while managing budgets.
- Responsible for completion of projects within budget and on schedule and tracking for time and materials projects.
- Oversee technical staff to ensure projects are completed in accordance with company policies and standards.
- Respond to Requests for Proposal (RFP) by developing engineering geologic scope and budget.
- Demonstrate the company’s safety behaviors by following safety protocols and promoting a safety culture among team members.
- Provide leadership and managerial guidance; ensure that the vision and mission of the firm is achieved by setting milestones and benchmarks.
- Mentor staff providing guidance, resources, and insight on projects and problems as needed.
- Recognized as an expert in the field; provide quality control review of work; verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of technical submissions.
- Lead communicator with clients.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in engineering geology and geotechnical consulting.
- Prepare proposals and presentations to secure contracts and expand the company’s client base.
- Participate in professional organizations, networking events, conferences, community, civic and cultural events related to its clients and industry.
- Strong knowledge of engineering geology principles and practices which may include:
- Paleo seismic trench logging and fault trace analysis.
- Aerial photo analysis.
