Job SummaryESAero is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Configuration Management Specialist to manage the documentation, tracking, and control of our technical and operational configurations. This role ensures that all engineering, systems, software, and hardware changes are properly documented, evaluated, and maintained. The ideal candidate will work closely with Engineering, IT, QA, Manufacturing, and Operations to ensure effective and compliant configuration management practices.
Responsibilitiesand Duties
- Define and execute configuration management plans for engineering programs, ensuring alignment with company standards
- Evaluate and route engineering change requests (ECRs), ensuring they are properly documented, reviewed, approved, and communicated across teams
- Manage and lead configuration control meetings (CCB, TRB), including scheduling, agenda setting, and driving decisions to closure
- Assess risk and impact of proposed design changes and communicate findings to decision-makers
- Ensure data accuracy and traceability in all configuration documentation, including change requests and implementation checklists
- Review technical documents for completeness and determine required corrective follow-up
- Maintain configuration data throughout the product lifecycle to ensure compliance with release standards
- Prepare and validate configuration data required for major design gate reviews (PDR, CDR, FRR)
- Model best practices in Solid Works PDM and recommend workflow adjustments to improve efficiency
- Develop and provide training to promote effective change management processes
- Identify and contribute to process improvements that enhance configuration accuracy and efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in configuration management or a similar role
- Understanding of configuration management principles and product development processes
- Experience with PLM or PDM tools for configuration management
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate data into clear recommendations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to build trust and work professionally across teams
- U.S. Person required due to access to export‑controlled data
- Aerospace industry experience
- Technical writing experience
- Solid Works PDM proficiency
- Experience with ERP systems
