Job SummaryPerforms basic and critical respiratory care services. Works independently or under supervision. Provides respiratory care for adult and geriatric patients, including those with respiratory disease, as ordered by the physician and in accordance with department policies. Completes paperwork, electronic medical records, flow sheets, and charges for each patient. This position is represented by SEIU.

Work Experience:
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program (Required)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC‑RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC‑CRT) credential:
Preferred - Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license:
Required - Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS‑BLS OR RQI‑BLS) certification:
Required - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification:
Required at time of hire or within 90 days - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS‑ACLS OR RQI‑ACLS) certification:

- Assess and document appropriateness of prescribed therapy, administer aerosol and oxygen therapy, and maintain charts. Draw arterial blood gases. Provide care to ventilator patients and assist in department record‑keeping and training.
- Perform drainage procedures, provide patient care for cardio‑respiratory disease, and assist in rehabilitation. Provide instruction to patients and families about disease and its ramifications.
- Check respiratory therapy equipment, ensure ventilator bundle orders, and comply with VAP bundle. Identify measurable outcomes and communicate diagnosis throughout the patient’s stay.
- Assist with maintenance and processing of equipment and products used in respiratory therapy services.
- Serve as a knowledge resource to physicians and staff regarding technical aspects of respiratory care. Assist with stocking, re‑ordering parts, setting up specialty equipment, and maintaining equipment cleanliness. Assist physicians with bronchoscopies and special procedures. Contribute to quality control, staff schedules, and competencies.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
