This position is fully on-site at ESAero in San Luis Obispo, CA
Position overviewThe Production Control Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating the activities of product lines, projects, and programs to ensure efficient production execution. This role involves tracking all aspects of project activities, including contractual requirements, deliverables, scheduling, budget management, and coordination with engineering, quality, and operations teams to ensure on-time delivery. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, process-driven, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively across multiple departments, including Engineering, Operations, Quality, Contracts, Finance, and Management.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and coordinate the execution of production projects on the assembly floor within the manufacturing facility.
- Evaluate purchase requisition (PR) recommendations from MRP output.
- Identify and resolve production planning and execution challenges.
- Collaborate with Planning to ensure timely release, assembly, and completion of work orders.
- Work with project resources to ensure materials and work orders are available in alignment with project schedules.
- Assist in the creation and processing of work orders.
- Manage the movement and documentation of rejected materials in W.I.P. and coordinate their replacement.
- Support the issuance of labor/materials and work order closures.
- Prioritize work orders in coordination with operations leads to align with project schedule requirements.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to resolve work order shortages.
- Facilitate the implementation of engineering changes in collaboration with Planning, Engineering, and Purchasing.
- Identify and manage obsolete materials.
- Track and maintain logs for outside process orders, including vendor locations and due dates.
- Oversee material movement from receiving to project areas.
- Support resource and capacity planning efforts.
- Assist in cycle counting activities.
- Maintain and support AS9100 QMS systems and processes.
- Input and manage data within the MRP system.
- Strong understanding of MRP systems and inventory management.
- Ability to analyze purchasing and inventory data within an MRP/ERP system.
- Familiarity with commercial electronics manufacturing practices and controls.
- Experience in creating and closing work orders.
- Ability to develop production protocols and procedures.
- Capable of working effectively in a small, dynamic materials team with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Understanding of capacity planning concepts and methodologies.
- Ability to train others in work order and inventory control processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with familiarity in SharePoint and ERP systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with peers, suppliers, customers, and leadership.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; BA/BS degree preferred.
- APICS training and/or certification is desirable.
- Familiarity with ESD practices.
- Minimum of 1–2 years in a manufacturing environment as a planner, expediter, or material control specialist.
- Experience in electronics manufacturing is preferred.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Familiarity with ISO
9001/AS9100 standards. - Experience using Microsoft Project.
