Job Description SummaryAn Infusion Nurse II is a licensed registered nurse who coordinates and provides intermediate direct patient care to patients in the home or in an alternate infusion suite, ensuring patient safety and continuity of care under a physician’s plan of care. The role operates under structured supervision and focuses on providing safe, compliant, and high‑quality treatment.
Job Responsibilities- Initiate, develop, and implement nursing plans of care and treatments, evaluate patient progress toward goals, perform treatments, administer medications, and educate patients and families.
- Assess patient needs and physical status at each visit, re‑evaluate status, and modify plans in response to changing health or physician orders.
- Obtain and clarify physician orders, inform physicians of significant changes, and provide written summaries.
- Provide training and mentorship to Infusion Nurse I’s to ensure safety and compliance.
- Teach patients and families to achieve independence with therapy through active participation.
- Communicate effectively with the clinical team, providers, patients, and families, and maintain real‑time documentation for billing optimization.
- Coordinate discharge planning and prepare discharge summaries with detailed instructions.
- Demonstrate compliance with agency operations, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maximize work efficiency using computers and automation technologies.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and emergency procedures as necessary.
- Own professional practice and adhere to ethical conduct and company values.
- Safeguard patient and proprietary information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Explain Option Care’s scope of services and related financial obligations to patients.
- Complete required trainings and continuing education to maintain competency and licensure.
- Provide oversight and coordination of paraprofessionals and act as supervisor in the absence of the Supervisor or Nurse Manager.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences and offer precepting, training, and mentoring to other nurses.
- Participate in the department on‑call rotation.
- Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor.
- Insert PICC/Midlines per physician order.
- Troubleshoot and declot obstructed central line catheters.
- Monitor PICC/Midline, educate on infection prevention, and conduct routine care.

BasicEducation and Experience
- Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- Demonstrated competency in patient care and infusion skill sets required for safe service delivery.
- Licensure to operate a motor vehicle with access to a vehicle for business travel and proof of liability insurance.
- Basic knowledge of computer operating systems and software applications; ability to apply nursing technology tools for communication and documentation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with a maximum lifting of 75 pounds; occasional exertion of up to 20 pounds or frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds; tasks may include walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, and fine motor work.
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, and potentially infectious materials; exposure to hazardous substances, needles, sharps, fumes, chemicals, weather conditions, and unpredictable home environments.
- Safety requirements: closed‑toe shoes, facemask, goggles, gown, gloves, and functional communication device for routine and emergency situations.
- Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time for business purposes.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- 1–2 years of prior infusion nursing experience preferred.
Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Pay Range is $42.72–$71.21.
