Description

The job title says "Barista", but the roles included at our location include more than just making drinks.

We seek out individuals who are passionate about coffee, drink coffee daily, and love to serve coffee toothers.

Baristas greet customers, answer questions, take orders and accept payments; as well as prepare coffee, espresso drinks, and beer/wine. Baristas also complete daily cleaning and stocking tasks to maintain a professional workspace and customer dining area. Baristas are expected to continually expand their knowledge of the specialty coffee industry in all areas including quality control, preparation and presentation.

To succeed as a barista, you should be committed to providing customers with an incredible customer experience. You should be positive, friendly, hard working, knowledgeable, and polite.

• Welcoming customers, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments.
• Preparing coffee, espresso drinks, a handful of food items (pastries and breakfast burritos), and presenting them to customers.
• Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying trash, and sanitizing equipment and utensils.
• Learning about brewing methods, espresso extraction, and presentation techniques to improve food quality.
• Restocking items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter.
• Working in as part of a fun, high-energy team.
• Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in food and beverage preparation or customer service preferred.
• Training and willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation.
• Exceptional listening and communication skills.
• Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods.
• Availability to work around peak hours, including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Commitment to customer satisfaction and a killer customer service experience.
• Willingness to work as part of a high-energy, efficient team in a fast-paced environment.
• Baristas must work a minimum of 3 shifts per week. We prefer full time staff when available.
• Core job fundamentals like a good attitude, showing up on time, and working hard are more important that perfect coffee technique. We can teach you, if you have the right skills otherwise.

• California does not have a tip credit, so all employees earn the full prevailing minimum wage.
• Cash tips are kept by members of a shift.
• Credit card tips are split by hours worked daily and come on your paycheck.
• Effective wages, including tips, are usually $18-$25 per hour depending on the shifts.
