Environmental Scientist

Padre Associates is an established environmental consulting firm headquartered in Ventura, California, with additional offices in Bakersfield, Sacramento, and San Luis Obispo.

We are currently seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Sciences group in the San Luis Obispo office. The position will involve supporting the team conducting air quality and noise assessments in support of project applications and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance. Work tasks will include preparation of air emissions estimates using excel and other agency recognized software programs, monitoring plan preparation and execution, and noise monitoring and modeling to support CEQA level requirements.

Although primarily an office-based position, some field assignments may be required.

• Support air quality and greenhouse gas estimations
• Conduct general data analysis and data management
• Perform research, permitting, and reporting tasks
• Perform air quality and noise monitoring

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field
• 0–5 years of relevant environmental experience
• Experience with air quality and greenhouse gas analysis and impact studies (not required but a plus)
• Some understanding of noise monitoring and performing noise impact studies
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Proficient in database management and data organization techniques
• Strong analytical, writing, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Highly motivated and enthusiastic, with an interest in professional growth
• Willingness to work in both office and field environments

$32 - $36 an hour
