A general introduction to the study of language development examining current issues and linguistic theories of language acquisition, including those related to cognitive and cultural development, and the effects of sociolinguistic factors, such as gender and socioeconomic status, on language acquisition. Also explores multilingualism, early literacy, and language development in special populations. Students will discover how language is acquired via the interaction of internal and external factors.
Minimum Qualifications- A master’s degree in Linguistics or in a related field
- Experience teaching higher education courses in linguistics
- Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
- A doctorate in Linguistics or in a related field.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.
Salary is commensurate with degree level and experience.
- Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $8,500 per full-time month
- The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification includes ranges:
Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month;
Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 - $13,224 per full-time month
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
