Appointment: Full-time, Temporary with Benefits, Exempt (Temporary role with an anticipated duration of 9 months)

Anticipated Salary: $75,000-$80,000 annual salary (depending on experience)

Total Compensation including Benefits: $102,750-$109,600 annualized*

Summary

Under the lead direction of the Project Director and Associate Director, the STEM Information Technology Specialist will provide support to CSTEM programs and faculty, particularly in the area of Computer Science and Engineering.

This person plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation, security, and innovation of the CSTEM IT needs and resources.

Provides high‑level technical support to faculty, staff, and students across Windows, Mac, and Linux environments, offering consultative assistance, training, and recommendations on emerging technologies that support teaching, research, and administrative functions.

This person is expected to partner with campus IITS to meet STEM programs' IT needs and faculty research IT needs.

With a strong emphasis on collaboration, problem‑solving, and proactive support, this position ensures that the CSTEM’s technology ecosystem operates efficiently and evolves with the changing needs of academic and research environments.

Qualifications Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field required and 1-2+ years of training and work experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in Higher Education with college students.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of network connectivity, server administration, and system troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge and ability to assess user needs and provide appropriate technology support.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan, organize, and manage technology support delivery and complete related small projects.
  • Proficiency in using applicable software or technology systems.
  • Knowledge of educational computing systems and a
  • Wide range of educational multimedia and application software preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present technical information to technically diverse audiences in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate technology and configure and deploy systems updates.
  • Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Ability to interpret university policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of professional leadership and assume the role of an authoritative specialist in the program area.

  • Ability to analyze a variety of complex regulations, apply sound judgment, draw logical conclusions and find creative solutions to a variety of problems.

  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of a wide range of applications, network systems, databases, and departmental hardware such as computers, servers, and firmware for electronic devices.
