San Marcos Academy is currently seeking part-time Recreation and After School Program Instructors in the Student Life Department. This position is excellent for those seeking experience in recreation, event planning, or education. Responsible for promoting and assisting in the student Life program.

Essential Job Functions
  • Monitor and supervise students in the Recreation Center and K‑5 After School Program
  • Serve as a positive role model through appropriate behavior and personal standards
  • Hold students accountable to the expectations of the department and student handbook
  • Assist with all aspects of department operations
  • Plan and lead organized activities
  • Promote participation in daily activities
  • Plan and facilitate large activities effectively
  • Maintain student accountability
  • Perform duties safely and follow policies and procedures
  • Complete administrative tasks as needed
  • Assist with on‑campus events
  • Other duties as assigned
Special Requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to follow written and spoken directions
  • Understanding basic safety precautions
  • Ability to recognize and react to emergencies
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Hold a current Texas Driver’s License
  • Ability to transport students on and off‑campus (preferred)
  • Knowledge of adolescent development
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to do research, gather content, and organize information
  • Proficiency in prioritizing and organizing assignments
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with internal team members while maintaining a self‑directed approach to ongoing projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in the workplace
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse population
  • Able to demonstrate a positive attitude
Performance Standards and Expectations

  • Represent SMA with appropriate appearance
Compensation

The wage is $10.00 per hour, 10‑20 hours per week, with flexible hours available.
