Position DescriptionThe Department of Engineering Technology at Texas State University is seeking applicants to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor in our growing Construction Science and Management (CSM) and Concrete Industry Management (CIM) programs, beginning in Fall 2026. These undergraduate programs are accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) and the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Technology (ATMAE), respectively, and currently serve about 1,000 students.
The department is also home to MS and PhD programs in construction management with in‑person and online options. While candidates with expertise in all areas of construction management will be considered, preference will be given to those in the areas of heavy civil, highway and/or industrial construction.
The selected candidate will be expected to excel in teaching and have excellent oral and written English communication skills. The individual selected for this position will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as departmental needs require.
The selected candidate is also expected to conduct research and to secure external funding, establish an independent research program, and publish in areas appropriate for both construction and for an emerging research institution. The candidate will also be expected to engage both undergraduate and graduate students in research activities and to supervise graduate students.
In addition, the selected candidate will participate in appropriate service activities at the program, department, university, and professional levels.
Required Qualifications For all ranks- An earned doctoral degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field. ABD may be considered, with the stipulation that the PhD is completed during the first year of employment.
- An undergraduate degree in Construction Management from an ACCE or ABET accredited institution, or in Construction Engineering or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or a closely related field from a similarly accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written English language skills.
- A demonstrated record of excellent teaching abilities.
- A strong record of research (as PI or co‑PI) and peer‑reviewed publications associated with external funding adequate to support students.
- A minimum of six years of teaching experience as a full‑time faculty member in a related discipline.
- A minimum of 12 years of teaching experience as a full‑time faculty member in a related discipline.
- An established national reputation among peers and demonstrated leadership through service to the university, professional organizations, and community or government agencies.
The successful applicant will be offered the appropriate rank and title based on the established standards of the university and the Department of Engineering Technology.
Preferred Qualifications- Industry experience in construction and/or construction management, or in construction engineering.
- Research interests and experience in fields complementary to those of other faculty in the department.
- Professional licensure or certification as an American Institute of Constructors (AIC) Associate Constructor (AC), or Certified Professional Constructor (CPC), Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Institute Construction Professional (PMI‑CP), professional engineer (PE), registered architect, or other certifications related to the construction profession such as LEED‑AP and OSHA Authorized Trainer.
