Job Opportunities at Texas State University
The Department of Political Science seeks to develop a pool of candidates for possible temporary/nontenured faculty to teach in Legal Studies.
Temporary/nontenured faculty are appointed to teach one to four courses per semester. Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental need. Successful candidates may teach at the San Marcos campus and/or online, depending on the needs of the academic department.
This posting is for the fall 2025, spring 2026, and summer 2025/2026 semesters. Applicants will be considered for a pool faculty position when need arises. Positions are subject to availability of funds.
ResponsibilitiesTeach one to four courses per semester in Legal Studies; deliver courses either in‑person at San Marcos or online; complete performance evaluations; comply with funding and departmental needs.
Required Qualifications- Minimum of a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA‑accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Texas in good standing.
- Previous teaching experience at the university level.
