Responsibilities
  • Open cases on the Children Are My Priority system (ChAMP); check for duplicate cases, assess case type, validity and completeness.
  • Request missing information or documents; forward cases to the appropriate Child Support Officer (CSO).
  • Prepare cases for court; file pleadings, set cases on docket, monitor service, attend court as needed.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and monitor paternity tests; process and distribute test results.
  • Serve as a Notary Public as required.
  • Enter, retrieve, and update child support case information on the ChAMP system.
  • Monitor the ChAMP system and other databases to identify new or updated location information.
  • Verify locate and employment information using all available sources.
  • Perform money‑handling duties to process child support payments.
  • Prepare routine or periodic reports.
  • Research court orders.
  • Respond to routine telephone inquiries concerning child support cases.
  • Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail and documents.
  • Assist with conducting seminars and interviewing custodial parents to gather additional information about absent parents.
  • Assist in training staff.
  • Scan and index documents.
  • Review and maintain child support virtual files for accuracy in the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) repository.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
  • Maintain relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions.
  • Attend work regularly in compliance with the agreed‑upon work schedule.
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information.
  • Comply with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Either two years (60 credit hours) of accredited college coursework or, equivalently, two years of full‑time experience in a related field (Child Support Program, complex clerical, customer service, or secretarial).
  • Experience:

    Two (2) years of full‑time experience in a related field.
  • Computer skills: word processing, data entry/retrieval.
  • Multitasking, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Sound judgment and effective decision making.
  • Positive response to constructive feedback.
  • Cooperative teamwork in a professional office environment.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • In‑person work at the assigned OAG work location; ability to perform all assignments in that location and to collaborate with coworkers throughout each work week.
  • Personal transportation for business travel.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed, in compliance with the FLSA.
  • Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
  • Travel (including overnight) up to 5% of the time.
  • Typing speed 35 words per minute (typing test required at interview).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proper use of punctuation, sentence structure, grammar, and spelling.
  • Proficient reading, writing, and speaking Spanish.
  • Knowledge of military cross‑walk information.
