Pride Health is hiring a skilled certified medical assistant (CMA) to support our client at the San Marcos, TX medical facility. This is a 13-week contract with the possibility of extension, providing a great opportunity to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant’s practice.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment (without interpreting tests), remove staples from superficial wounds, change wound dressings, obtain cultures, administer non-intravenous medication, perform simple specimen collection via noninvasive techniques, collect blood specimens via venipuncture or capillary, and perform EKGs.
  • Perform quality control checks on equipment and prepare/sterilize medical equipment using the autoclave.
  • Room patients according to policy and procedures and prepare them for examination.
  • Record patient care documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians, company standards, and policies.
  • Respect patient confidentiality and treat patients courteously and respectfully.
  • Organize exam and treatment rooms, stock and clean rooms, and sterilize instruments.
  • Practice standard infection control precautions.
  • Conduct telephone and in-person screening to gather information without exercising clinical judgment.

    • Must-have Skills/Qualifications/Education/Work Experience:

    • At least 2 years of experience as a medical assistant.
    • Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification.
    • Maintain current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
    • High school diploma.
    • Basic computer literacy.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology.
    • Experience with ICD-9 and CPT coding.

    Job Duration: 13 weeks

    Shifts:

    Monday-Friday, Day Shift

    Hourly Pay: $21 - $23/hour
