About the Facility
San Marcos Treatment Center, a 212‑bed seclusion‑free psychiatric residential treatment facility located between Austin and San Antonio in the heart of Central Texas. The center spans 65 acres and offers two swimming pools, two gymnasiums, a sports court, playing fields, a ropes course, a canteen, a social area, and a healing trail. We provide 24‑hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 6 to 17 with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions, and improve social functioning.

We are looking for RNs to work weekends with our adolescent population. The RN weekend shift would be Saturday and Sunday, 6 AM to 10 PM each day.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the RN performs physical assessments of patients; implements treatment plans; evaluates response to treatment; provides complete documentation; administers medications as prescribed; and provides health care education for patients and families. The RN is the shift supervisor of the Mental Health Techs and LVN staff, ensures a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, and provides assessment and medical management.

Education
:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. One year psychiatric/neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and/or young adults in a long‑term hospital or residential setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification
:
Current Texas professional nurse license and current driver license.
Skills
:
Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information. Demonstrates effective organization. Develops and implements patient care services within discipline. Must consistently exhibit mental ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to initiate and implement all phases of the nursing process; ability to provide safe nursing care; understanding patient rights;
basic supervisory skills.
