About San Marcos Treatment Center
San Marcos Treatment Center, a 212‑bed, seclusion‑free psychiatric residential treatment facility located between Austin and San Antonio in the heart of Central Texas, spans 65 acres with trees and wildlife. We have 13 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development levels, along with two swimming pools, two gymnasiums, a sports court, playing fields, a ropes course, canteen, social area, and a healing trail.
The center provides 24‑hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 6 to 17 with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs that teach young patients to moderate behaviors, manage emotions, and improve social functioning.
The Registered Nurse (RN) position reports to the Director of Nursing and is responsible for physical assessments of patients, implementing treatment plans, evaluating responses to treatment, providing complete documentation, administering medications as prescribed, and offering health‑care education to patients and families. The RN serves as the shift supervisor for Mental Health Techs and LVN staff, ensures a safe and therapeutic environment, and provides direct patient care and management of children, adolescents, and young adults as prescribed.
The RN also ensures safety, supervision, and crisis management for patient populations, provides assessment and medical management, and assists in the management of a therapeutic milieu.
