Responsibilities
San Marcos Treatment Center is a 212‑bed psychiatric residential treatment facility between Austin and San Antonio offering 24‑hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 6 to 17 with customized therapeutic approaches. We have 13 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development levels, two swimming pools, two gymnasiums, sports court, playing fields, ropes course, canteen, social area, and a healing trail.
We are looking for RN's to work overnight with our adolescent population. Overnight shifts are 10 PM to 6 AM. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the RN provides physical assessments, implements treatment plans, evaluates response to treatment, provides complete documentation, administers medications, and provides health care education for patients and families. The RN is the shift supervisor of the Mental Health Techs and LVN staff, ensuring that the environment is safe and therapeutic for all patients.
The RN provides direct patient care and management of children, adolescent, and young adult patients as prescribed by the physician and treatment team, assuring safety, supervision, and crisis management for patient populations, and assisting in the management of a therapeutic milieu.

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. One year psychiatric / neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and / or young adults in a long term hospital or residential setting preferred.
Licensure / Certification: Current Texas professional Nurse License and current driver license.
Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information; demonstrates effective organization; develops and implements patient care services within discipline; must consistently exhibit mental ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job; ability to initiate and implement all phases of the nursing process; ability to provide safe nursing care; understanding patient rights;
basic supervisory skills.
