Schedule:
Placement on the adjunct faculty salary schedule is based upon education and credited experience. Pending any course assignment, initial placement can range as follows:
Lab Course (Salary Schedule HB) - $89.20 up to $130.94 per hour. Lecture Course (Salary Schedule AJ) - $103.85 up to $151.07.
Months Per Year: Semester assignments as needed

Duties and Responsibilities
Teach courses in the Paralegal Studies programDevelop and evaluate curricula appropriate to the different learning needs of students as well as develop student learning outcomesProvide an equitable classroom environment that promotes learning for every studentUse and keep abreast of current pedagogies and technologies that are effective in a diverse classroomConsult with students during regularly‑scheduled office hoursPerform other professional duties as required by contract or divisional and institutional needs. A portion of the teaching assignment may consist of evening or weekend classesEmployment Standards (acquired through education, training, and/or experience)
Knowledge of:
Program‑specific data collection and analysisIssues affecting the training and employment of paralegals and legal assistantsComputer‑based applications and modern technologies for teaching paralegal coursesSkills and AbilitiesSuccessful experience in teaching or evidence of preparation to teach the full range of college paralegal studies coursesPossession of a certificate from an ABA‑approved paralegal programActive member of the State Bar of California in good standingTeach theoretical concepts and practical skills needed for paralegal employmentCommitment to and proficiency in creating curricula and methods of delivery that reflect present department standards and practicesTraining and/or history of effective interaction with students at the basic and developmental levelsUse instructional methods that emphasize cooperation and collaboration and that reflect cultural sensitivity and interdisciplinary approaches to subject matterMotivate students from a broad spectrum of academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgroundsDevelop student learning outcomes and assessments, as well as program review, for paralegal coursesExpand the use of technology appropriate to the subject areas of the assignment, including distance educationCollaborate in college‑wide and departmental activities to assess and improve student learning outcomesCommitment to the role and purpose of the community college, including the mission and values of the District's collegesUse teaching methods that emphasize cooperation and collaboration and engage students actively in their studies, encouraging them to become critical thinkers and independent learnersDesire to work collaboratively with faculty members and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student successCommitment to professional responsibilities outside of the classroom through enthusiastic contributions to department, division and college activitiesJob Requirements
- Bachelor's degree(s) or higher specifically in legal assisting (paralegal studies), and at least two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment OR Associate degree(s) specifically in legal assisting (paralegal studies) and at least six years of directly related professional experience OR the equivalent (see below). Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree.
