, offering the adjunct faculty salary schedule and on‑site work with potential telework.
- Teach classes as assigned from the Kinesiology Division curriculum, including fitness, yoga, Pilates, team sports, and individual sports.
- Establish relationships with students, faculty, administration, staff, the county, surrounding high schools, media, and businesses.
- Participate in the development and selection of course materials, equipment, and technology that enhance department offerings.
- Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies.
- Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.
- Serve as a member of division and college committees.
- Perform duties required by contract, collective bargaining agreements, and institutional needs, including course syllabus development, student progress monitoring, enrollment management, and student evaluation.
- Develop curriculum and modes of instruction in Kinesiology and assist in curriculum revisions and new course development.
- Master’s degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education (physical education emphasis), physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education; OR bachelor’s degree in a related field plus a master’s or higher in a life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain before assignment.
- Valid California driver’s license (or ability to obtain).
- Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
- Recent successful experience coaching within a varied kinesiology (physical education) program.
- Teaching experience or ability to teach a varied kinesiology program.
- Understanding and commitment to the role and purpose of the community college.
- Commitment to the teaching and coaching profession, its goals and ideals, and enthusiasm for supporting departmental and college missions.
- Ability to assess student learning outcomes and motivate students to develop critical thinking skills.
Academic employees participate in the State Teachers' Retirement System (STRS) and may choose the STRS Cash Balance program or Social Security.
