Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant’s standards. This role requires a keen eye for detail, creativity in menu planning, and a commitment to food safety and hygiene practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, with precision and artistry.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan menus that highlight seasonal ingredients and innovative flavor combinations.
• Ensure all food preparation meets health and safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
• Manage inventory of sushi ingredients, including fish, rice, and vegetables, ensuring freshness and quality.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food handling practices.
• Assist in catering events as needed, providing exceptional service and presentation of sushi platters.
• Maintain knowledge of current trends in the food industry to continually enhance menu offerings.

Skills

• Proven experience in a culinary role with a focus on sushi preparation or Japanese cuisine.
• Strong knife skills and expertise in food handling techniques.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
• Experience in menu planning and meal preparation to create diverse offerings.
• Background in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus.
• Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments is highly desirable.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.20 – $19.00 per hour
