Sky Pilot is building its commercial cloud platform and expanding its engineering team to support the growing demand for multicloud AI infrastructure.

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer specializing in cloud platforms to help design and build Sky Pilot's commercial cloud platform from the ground up.

In this role, you will develop the core infrastructure and services that power a scalable, secure, and reliable multitenant cloud platform. You'll work on foundational architecture, cloud-native services, and platform components that enable customers to run AI workloads across multiple cloud providers.

This position is ideal for an engineer who has built SaaS or cloud platforms from zero to one in a venture-backed startup and enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges with a strong focus on production reliability and scalability.

• Architect and develop the commercial cloud platform from the ground up.
• Design and implement control plane and data plane architectures.
• Build platform services for tenant management, user administration, authentication, and role-based access control (RBAC).
• Develop production-grade APIs and backend services using Go and other cloud-native technologies.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes-based infrastructure for reliable, scalable platform operations.
• Design and implement service communication and integrations using gRPC.
• Develop and manage infrastructure using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Work with PostgreSQL to support platform data management and application requirements.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling to improve reliability and performance.
• Make architectural decisions that balance scalability, security, reliability and simplicity.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to deliver platform capabilities that support a growing customer base.

• 6+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering.
• Demonstrated experience building a SaaS platform from zero to one, preferably in an early-stage, venture-backed startup.
• Experience building the platform layer of a multitenant SaaS or cloud product, including components such as control planes, tenant management, authentication, RBAC, API gateways, billing, or metering.
• Production experience with Kubernetes.
• Strong proficiency in Go is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with gRPC, PostgreSQL, and Terraform.
• Experience designing, developing, and operating production-grade cloud platforms or distributed backend services.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field from a top-30 computer science program.
• A strong engineering track record demonstrated through experience at a leading infrastructure or cloud company, a well-funded Series A–C infrastructure startup, or another recognized indicator of technical excellence.
• Ability to take ownership of complex technical projects and deliver scalable, maintainable solutions.
