Software Engineering Manager - Engine Networking

Roblox is a platform where millions of people create and play 3D immersive experiences. As a Software Engineering Manager for Engine Networking, you will lead a talented team of engineers in scaling game networking technology to support millions of concurrent players in real-time multiplayer experiences.

• Lead a talented team of engineers scaling game networking technology to support millions of concurrent players
• Be part of the leadership team influencing the direction and priorities of your teams and the Engine organization
• Own roadmaps, projects, problems, and outcomes across their full lifecycle
• Participate technically through hands-on coding, code review, technical review, and architectural guidance
• Hire, coach, and grow engineers into technical leaders while building high-performing teams with strong engineering practices

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership
• Track record leading teams building high-performance, low-latency systems at scale of millions of concurrent users
• Deep experience with low-level systems programming in resource-constrained, multi-platform environments (desktop, mobile, console)
• Exceptional cross-functional communication skills with peer teams, customers, partners, and executives
• Fluent in C++ with deep technical ability to dig into code

• Background in game engine development or game networking
• Experience with asset streaming and caching
• Transport-level networking experience (custom protocols, congestion control, QoS, Linux networking)

Base salary $293,800–$343,340 USD annually. Eligible for equity compensation and full benefits. Roles based in San Mateo office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence Monday and Friday.
