Schedule:
Placement on the adjunct faculty salary schedule is based upon education and credited experience. Initial placement can range from $89.20 to $130.94 per hour (Salary Schedule HB - Laboratory Rate).
Months Per Year: Semester assignments as needed

Reporting to the Dean of Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance, the Water Polo/Swimming Coach is a part‑time faculty position in the Athletic Department. The assignment entails coaching the Water Polo/Swimming team and all aspects related to the water polo/swimming program. Assignment of off‑season conditioning and team courses based on the applicant meeting minimum qualifications or equivalency in Kinesiology.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coach and administer all aspects of the Women's Water Polo and Men's and Women's Swimming ProgramsSelect, train, and supervise assistant coaching and game operations staffMotivate and guide student athletes to achieve academic success and assist in their matriculation to the four‑year level and/or in meeting their vocational training goalsEvaluate, plan, and coordinate all programs supporting the success of student‑athletes in Women's Water Polo and Men's & Women's SwimmingOversee preparation of the scheduleMonitor and stay within the assigned budgetEngage in approved fundraising activities to supplement the program budgetAssist in the identification, procurement, and inventory of supplies and equipment for the Women's Intercollegiate Water Polo and Men's & Women's Intercollegiate Swimming ProgramsEnsure all facilities and modes of transportation are used safely and maintained properlyPromote the Women's Intercollegiate Water Polo and Men's & Women's Intercollegiate Swimming Programs within the community and our contiguous recruiting areas through recruiting, public appearances, promotional efforts, community service, camps, clinics, etc.Observe all San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD) Board Policies and ProceduresComply with all California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), Coast Conference, and college rules, regulations, and policiesEmployment Standards (acquired through education, training, and/or experience)
Knowledge of:
Current guidelines governing Intercollegiate Water Polo/Swimming (CCCAA, NCAA, etc.)Skills and AbilitiesSuccessful experience in coaching at the club level or higherDemonstrated ability to recruitManage various aspects of a water polo/swimming program, including, but not limited to, academic advisement, budget, coaching, compliance, evaluation, facilities, fundraising, marketing, operations, scheduling, and student supportPlan and direct the conditioning, training, practice, match, and behavioral conduct of all student‑athletes in the programCoach, develop, and promote an intercollegiate water polo/swimming programContinue professional development or involvement in the sport of water polo/swimmingSensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staffCommunicate effectively with all people, including persons of diverse cultures and language groups, and people who have disabilitiesCommunicate effectively and work cooperatively with others in a team environmentInterest and willingness to develop and maintain working relationships with club, high school, and four‑year coaches to recruit, retain, and matriculate student‑athletesWork with students with a wide range of skills, motivation, athletic, academic, or vocational goalsEvaluate collegiate‑level athletic prospectsWork as a member of a team and collaborate with the Dean, Administrative…
