The Ethnic Studies Department and La Raza Studies program at Contra Costa Community College are accepting applications for an Adjunct Faculty (part time). This is a temporary assignment that begins March 2026.

Location: Contra Costa College
- providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
- creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
- evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;
- meeting with students outside of class;
- maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
- maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
- fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
- maintaining accurate academic records;
- performing other related duties as assigned.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.
- Master’s in African American Studies, Black Studies, Africana Studies, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Asian American Studies, Native American Studies, American Indian Studies OR Master’s in Ethnic Studies OR the equivalent.

- Exceptional interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, passion for teaching, and ability to effectively communicate with students.
- College level teaching or similar community education experience.
- Significant graduate level coursework in Chicano/a/x, Latino/a/x Studies, and Ethnic Studies.
- Competency in teaching US Latino history and politics.
