Responsibilities
  • Deliver personalized support and guidance to students, enriching their educational experiences and enhancing classroom effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational professionals to implement individualized strategies and foster student success in classroom and community settings.
  • Implement engaging curriculum and behavioral intervention strategies aligned with each student’s IEP, ITP, and PBIP, including on-site and community-based activities.
  • Consult with supervisors regarding student progress and adjustments to IEP/ITP/PBIP, assist transitions to mainstream environments or adult programs, and contribute to progress reports and data sheets.
  • Follow and enrich the classroom schedule, aligning activities with academic, community, and vocational objectives; address individualized educational services and adjustments.
  • Complete precise, timely documentation of student behaviors; share observations with relevant staff and recommend strategies while maintaining confidentiality of records.
  • Participate in data collection and analysis, record essential student information, and contribute to Functional Behavioral Assessments and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Provide job coaching, facilitating vocational training and mentoring students in job-related skills on campus and at community work sites; update supervisors on development and placements.
  • Provide compassionate support for students’ physical care needs as required, ensuring dignity and comfort.
  • Maintain classroom safety through continuous monitoring and proactive response to potential safety concerns.
  • Comply with company policies and regulatory requirements, promptly reporting concerns or violations.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary, prioritizing safety and employing de-escalation techniques.
  • Meet mandatory training requirements through participation in meetings and professional development.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming learning environment and support facility safety and maintenance.
  • Participate in team activities, foster cooperation, effective communication, mutual respect, and a positive work culture.
  • Assist with classroom operations and special projects, including substitute teaching responsibilities; act as primary instructor in the teacher’s absence when needed.
  • Provide orientation and support to new staff and assist with educational planning and materials preparation.
  • Assist with classroom management, budgeting, record-keeping, and maintaining a stimulating learning environment.
  • Support transportation when applicable, including riding with students on Spectrum vehicles and/or driving company vans with appropriate DMV requirements.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field.
  • Ability to obtain a CA Emergency 30 Day Sub Permit within 90 days of starting employment, if required.
  • Valid CA state driver’s license or ability to obtain one; willingness to drive a company van and transport students.
  • Minimum 3 years of prior experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Experience with individuals with severe learning, emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and/or other related disabilities.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in special education services, curriculum development, classroom management, and instruction preferred.
