Construction Estimator & Drafting Specialist

Greenport Construction Inc. is hiring a Construction Estimator & Drafting Specialist in San Rafael, CA, paying $53 to $70 an hour based on experience and efficiency. You will turn architectural plans, client ideas, and project scopes into accurate, construction-ready estimates, produce basic permit drawings, and coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and homeowners. At least 3 years of construction estimating experience and proficiency with drafting software such as AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Chief Architect, or Revit are required.

• You bring 3+ years of construction estimating experience, ideally in high-end residential remodeling and custom construction.

• You understand residential building methods, materials, and construction sequencing, and read architectural and structural plans with confidence.

• You are comfortable performing material takeoffs and building budgets from labor, material, and subcontractor pricing.

• You know California building codes and local permitting processes.

• You work confidently in AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Chief Architect, Revit, or similar software.

• You are detail-oriented and organized, you spot missing information quickly, and you communicate clearly in writing and in person.

• We take preconstruction seriously, so every project is thoroughly evaluated before construction begins.

• Prepare detailed estimates and preliminary budgets from plans, specifications, and site measurements.

• Perform material takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

• Prepare bid packages, solicit pricing, and compare subcontractor proposals for scope gaps and exclusions.

• Review drawings for inconsistencies, constructability concerns, and code compliance.

• Produce floor plans, elevations, kitchen and bath layouts, and as-built drawings for permits and project execution.

• Help apply for permits and join preconstruction meetings with owners, project managers, and designers.

• Maintain estimates and cost databases in Buildertrend and track changes between revisions.

• Pay is $53 to $70 an hour based on experience and efficiency.
