Job Title: Manager, Health & Nutrition
Reports to: Senior Director, Family Well-being
Department: Children & Family Services
Pay : $85,000-$95,000 yr
Length of Position: Temporary (Estimated end date June 30, 2026)
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Family Well-being, the Health and Nutrition Manager ensures the delivery of comprehensive health and nutrition services for children and families enrolled in Community Action Marin’s Children and Family Services programs. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local health regulations, including Head Start Program Performance Standards, licensing requirements, and California Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
The Manager oversees health screenings, individual health care plans, medication administration, exposure notifications, and coordination of health and dental services, while supporting nutrition services. The position supervises assigned staff, collaborates with internal and external partners, and helps families access the care they need to support child development and family well-being.
Health Services Oversight
- Supervise all health, dental, mental health, and environmental health services to ensure compliance with Head Start standards, Title 22 licensing, and other relevant regulations.
- Develop, implement, and update written health policies, procedures, and plans that are culturally responsive and meet regulatory requirements.
- Create and monitor individual health care plans for children with special medical or developmental needs.
- Coordinate and track the completion of required health screenings (vision, hearing, dental, developmental, TB, lead, etc.) and referrals.
- Manage and maintain accurate and timely health and safety records for all children and staff.
- Provide and document staff training on medication administration, health procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Issue exposure notifications (e.g., communicable diseases, parasites, lice, etc.) in compliance with regulations and agency policy.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor health practices, including sanitation, safety, and medication procedures.
Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as a liaison with healthcare providers, dental clinics, and community partners to coordinate services for children and families.
- Lead the Health and Mental Health Services Advisory committee in collaboration with other Community Action Marin leaders.
- Support families in understanding and accessing preventive health, dental, and nutrition care for their children.
- Engage families in health-related events, workshops, and education opportunities.
- Collaborate with Family Advocates and Home Visitors to ensure families are connected to resources that support overall health and wellness.
- Collaborate with the Director of Food & Climate Justice and Nutrition Services Coordinator to ensure compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and ensure proper documentation, audits, and corrective action plans as needed.
- Support the Nutrition Services Coordinator and Central Kitchen team in monitoring food service operations for compliance with health and safety standards.
- Review menus to ensure alignment with USDA, CACFP, and Head Start Nutrition Performance Standards, with attention to cultural appropriateness and dietary accommodations.
