Join Marin Health as a Medical Assistant in our Orthopedic Surgery team. You will work 8 hours per day on a full‑time schedule in San Rafael, assisting providers in patient care and clinic operations.

The Medical Assistant – Front/Back Swing, under the supervision of the Clinical Lead and Practice Leader, assists in delivering high‑quality patient care. Responsibilities include gathering patient information, performing vitals, aiding in procedures, and managing charting and supplies.
Direct Patient Care- Room patients, obtain vital signs and reason for visit, document symptoms and severity.
- Provide courteous and compassionate care.
- Document required information in the electronic medical record, including meaningful use and ACO data (Allscripts Experience preferred).
- Administer injections, immunizations, and other patient services as ordered.
- Assist during medical procedures.
- Communicate lab results, manage prescriptions, and handle referrals.
- Use EMR task lists to complete visits or requests.
- Triage urgent medical needs appropriately.
- Answer patient questions accurately.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and records.
- Complete referrals accurately.
- Maintain patient areas: disinfect exam rooms and end‑of‑day clean‑up.
- Assist with clinic upkeep, including daily cleaning and supply inventory.
- Answer phones cheerfully.
- Schedule appointments and take messages via EMR.
- Greet and check in patients.
- Address patient requests and inquiries.
- Resolve patient concerns.
- Process insurance verifications and authorizations, helping patients understand plans.
- Return calls as needed.
- Perform other assigned administrative tasks.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
Licenses/Certifications
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program (e.g., NHA, AMCA) required.
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required.
Experience
- At least one year of medical assisting experience in a physician’s office or similar setting.
- Re‑processing or procedural experience preferred.

CompensationPay range: $28.00–$36.41 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
