About The Role
The Plus Group is seeking a Process Engineer to join our client’s engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for understanding, optimizing, and improving production systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The Process Engineer will lead process improvement initiatives, support new product development, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. This position is located in Lathrop.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement process improvements to support new product and technology initiatives from concept through commercialization.
- Perform data collection, statistical analysis, and trend monitoring to identify opportunities for yield improvement, cost reduction, and spoilage reduction.
- Partner with quality, production, and engineering teams to recommend and implement process changes.
- Support equipment procurement, development, installation, and commissioning for new product initiatives.
- Manage capital projects from concept to commissioning, including validation activities.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for process deviations and support corrective actions.
- Assist with validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ) for new equipment and packaging materials.
- Build and maintain vendor relationships, identifying cost‑saving opportunities.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and statistical tools to operations staff.
- Promote safety, GMP compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Lead cross‑functional projects and ensure alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
- Travel up to 10% for training, equipment FATs, other facilities, and trade shows.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
- Strong background in process engineering, continuous improvement, and data‑driven problem solving
- Knowledge of automation, controls, and industrial processing systems
- Hands‑on experience with root cause analysis, process optimization, and project management
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to multitask under limited supervision and in high‑pressure environments
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Willingness to travel as required; must hold a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or aseptic processing environments
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, or process control tools
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management certification
- Exposure to varying temperature environments, wet conditions, loud noise, and moving machinery.
- May involve occasional work with chemicals, allergens, and airborne particles.
- Ability to push/pull/lift up to 25 lbs.
