Managing Director, Group Manager – Commercial (Emerging Middle Market) – BMO U.S.

Responsibilities and Expectations
• Overall growth in market share within the North Bay, East Bay, San Francisco, and South Bay.
• Leverage existing client network and drive direct new client acquisition.
• Recruit, develop, and coach the team to manage emerging middle‑market relationships with a focus on gaining market share and driving client satisfaction.
• Ensure internal control standards, including audit, regulatory, and compliance policies.
• Develop relationships with Portfolio Management and Treasury Product Services Teams and other key product and support partners.
• Leverage the integrated BMO One Client focus across all lines of business.
• Act as an escalation point for complex client issues and resolve conflicts.
• Lead structuring of high‑value, complex deals and credit approvals.
• Manage high‑value client portfolios, driving cross‑selling, retention, and profitability.
• Identify new business opportunities, acquire clients, penetrate markets, and expand the client base.
• Lead market coverage strategies to expand portfolios, identify opportunities, and align with business goals.
• Represent the bank at industry forums and conferences.
• Advise in committees and task forces to drive key initiatives.
• Streamline operational processes and implement best practices.
• Develop communication strategies to influence stakeholders.
• Oversee resource allocation for the team to meet organizational goals.
• Build strong, long‑term relationships with high‑value and strategic clients.
• Structure deals, secure credit approvals, and negotiate high‑value transactions.
• Analyze market trends and client industry developments to inform solution strategies.
• Collaborate with internal teams to define products and solutions that fit client needs.
• Identify share‑of‑wallet opportunities.
• Nurture and grow a portfolio that exceeds ROE thresholds.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal controls.
• Foster a culture aligned with BMO purpose, values, and strategy.
• Promote diversity and inclusion.
• Connect work to BMO’s purpose, set inspirational goals, and ensure accountability.
• Build interdependent teams across functional and operating groups.
• Attract, retain, and enable career development of top talent.
• Improve team performance, recognize and reward performance, coach employees, and manage poor performance.
• Operate at a group/enterprise level and serve as a senior specialist resource across BMO.
• Influence how teams/groups work together.

Qualifications
• 10+ years of relevant experience in Relationship Management, Account Management, or Portfolio Management in a corporate banking environment with sales metrics.
• Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred. CPA certification preferred.
• Extensive industry knowledge and technical leadership.
