Position: Special Education Paraprofessional (Severe to Profound)
Location: Charles Page High School (9th - 12th grade)
500 N. Adams Road
Sand Springs, OK 74063
Contract: 7 hrs. daily, and 10% stipend off of base pay
Reports to: Assigned Special Education Teacher, Building Principal, and Director of Special Services
Classification: Exempt
Qualifications48 Hours College Credit OR Passing Score on Paraprofessional Test, High School Diploma or Equivalent, Completion of Paraprofessional Training Required by the OSDE CPI Certificate CPR and First Aid Certificate, Obtain a Tiered Certification Certificate as specified by the OSDE. Pass the qualifications for a National Criminal History Check with the OSDE/OSBI.
Have a high school diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) diploma, PLUS:
- Option A:
Hold an associate’s degree (or higher) OR - Option B:
Complete at least two years (48 credit hours) of study at an institution of higher education. OR - Option D:
Pass the Praxis Para Professional Assessment Test (Passing score is 455) - Pass an Oklahoma Criminal Background Check
- Application for Oklahoma Title I Paraprofessional Credential
- $10 processing fee (check, cashier’s check, or money order) made payable to the Oklahoma State Department of Education (will be required if hired for this position)

Provides adult support to small groups of students or one-on-one with an individual student to assist the student(s) in unique educational goals.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesNote - these duties vary based on the individual student's needs and individualized education plans. Typically, this position calls for an individual to assist the Special Education Teacher in fulfilling academic needs through pull-out services to receive academic intervention and strengthen basic reading and mathematics skills.
- Assists with instruction, errands, and copies related to the assigned student(s).
- Cleans and maintains an efficient work area.
- Attends IEP and other meetings and training as requested.
- Alerts the assigned teacher of concerns related to the student(s).
- Maintains confidentiality of student information.
- Complies with all federal, state, and local laws and board policies and procedures.
- Utilizes professional behavior in all school-related interactions.
- Assists the teacher in monitoring students’ progress toward academic and behavioral IEP goals.
- Reinforces learning in small groups or with an individual student while the teacher works with other students.
- Assists the teacher in observing, recording, and charting behavior.
- Assists the teacher with crisis problems and behavior management.
- Provides one-on-one tutoring if scheduled when a student would not otherwise receive instruction from a teacher.
- Scores objective tests and papers and maintains appropriate records for teachers.
- Carries out instructional programs designed by the teacher.
- Works with the teacher to develop classroom schedules.
- Operates and maintains classroom equipment.
- Supervises children in the hallway, lunchroom, and playground.
- Performs all other tasks as a supervisor may assign.
- Accompanies students to the cafeteria for meals and assists students with getting and eating meals and cleaning up after meals.
- Accompanies students to classes or therapy services, monitors behavior (intervening as needed), and assists with classwork.
- Assists students with motor, balance, social, and life skills.
- Assists students with personal care, including dressing, toileting, and diapering.
