Spot Welder - Permanent Vacancy

We are looking for a Spot Welder to join a sheet metal fabrication business in Sandbach. You will work day shifts (7:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday–Thursday; 12:30 pm finish Friday) during the first 12 weeks of training, before moving onto a rotating 6:2/2:10 shift pattern once fully trained.

During the first 12 weeks you will earn an annual salary of GBP 26,500. After you are fully trained you can earn between GBP 29,000 and GBP 34,200 per annum (DOE).

Overtime is regularly available and is paid at T1/3 after 39 hours and T1/2 after 48 hours. A GBP 2,000 new starter incentive bonus is offered: GBP 200 after the first month, GBP 800 after probation, and GBP 1,000 after 12 months of service.

Responsibilities
  • Operate spot welding equipment to join sheet metal and other components accurately and efficiently.
  • Set up and adjust welding machines to meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform welding and other welding techniques as required for specialised tasks.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to prepare materials prior to welding.
  • Conduct inspections of welds to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Follow technical drawings, diagrams, and basic math calculations to complete tasks accurately.
Qualifications
  • Competence in using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment such as shears, grinders, and drills.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal work and fabrication principles.
  • Mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements, calculations, and adjustments during fabrication processes.
  • Ability to perform assembly tasks with precision and attention to detail.
  • Awareness of health and safety procedures related to welding operations.
