Management Accountant
Location:
Nottingham office 2/3 days per week Reporting To:
Group Financial Controller
The Management Accountant will play a pivotal role in supporting financial decision-making across the business whilst supporting the financial function. This includes producing accurate financial reports, analysing and reporting on departmental budget spend and supporting in the ongoing maintenance of the internal financial system. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, particularly with Microsoft Excel and other relevant accounting systems and demonstrate a proactive approach to financial systems and process improvement.
Study support will be available for the right candidate.
- Support and prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and financial commentary
- Help maintain and provide a robust financial accounting system
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Provide financial insights to support strategic initiatives and operational efficiency
- Develop and maintain excel-based models and reports for financial analysis.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors as required
- Assist in upskilling other members of the finance team on an ongoing basis
- Proven experience as a Management Accountant, ideally within an MSP or technology-driven SME
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modelling
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders
- A recognised professional accounting qualification AAT Level 4 minimum
- Knowledge of UK accounting standards and VAT regulations
- Experience in financial system migration or implementation projects
- Experience of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central Experience working in a PE backed business
- Familiarity with MSP business models and service-based revenue recognition.
- Working towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
