Our client is seeking a visionary Senior Urban Designer to join their practice in Sandton . This pivotal role involves shaping the future of urban environments through creative and sustainable design strategies. You will lead the design and planning of large-scale urban regeneration projects, public spaces, and master plans, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of architects, landscape architects, and planners. The position requires a deep understanding of urban dynamics, social equity, environmental resilience, and the ability to translate complex challenges into cohesive and inspiring urban frameworks that enhance community life.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of urban design strategies, master plans, and development frameworks for complex sites.
- Create high-quality design documentation, including concept plans, 3D visualizations, and policy guidelines.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement and public participation processes to inform design development.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated and sustainable design outcomes.
- Conduct research on urban trends, best practices, and relevant planning legislation in Gauteng .
- Provide expert advice on urban design matters to clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Master's degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in urban design, master planning, or related fields.
- Proven track record of leading complex urban design projects from concept to implementation.
- Proficiency in GIS software, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up , and presentation graphics.
- Strong understanding of urban planning principles, sustainability, and public realm design.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
