Position: Curriculum Developer (BEd Intermediate Phase)

Overview

Nation NXT College (NNC), Sifiso Learning Group’s teacher training institution, is looking for an experienced Curriculum Developer to design and align learning materials for its Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Intermediate Phase Teaching (Grades 4-7). This is a contract-based opportunity to contribute to a pioneering programme that integrates Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) into teacher education.

Responsibilities
  • Develop course guides, learner guides, lecture notes, assessment instruments and digital resources.
  • Align content with NQF level descriptors, HEQSF guidelines and accreditation requirements.
  • Integrate Project-Based Learning (PBL), Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) and blended learning methodologies.
  • Create support materials for Work Integrated Learning (TPN modules).
  • Develop modules in Intermediate Phase Mathematics, Natural Science and Technology, Social Science and Life Skills.
  • Collaborate with subject experts and academic managers to ensure contextual relevance.
  • Ensure inclusivity, diversity and relevance to South African classrooms.
  • Contribute to assessment in PBL, CAPS enhancement and professional studies (ethics, norms, research, professionalism).
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 5 years’ curriculum development experience in higher education, preferably with a BEd/PGCE.
  • Proven expertise in Intermediate Phase subjects (Mathematics, Sciences, Social Sciences, Life Skills).
  • Familiarity with South African curriculum policy, CHE standards and assessment frameworks.
  • Experience in digital/blended learning and ICT in teaching.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong academic writing and instructional design skills.
  • Ability to contextualise complex concepts for Grades 4-7.
  • Planning, project management and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital authoring tools.
  • Experience with accreditation and moderation processes.
